Shangri-La Dubai Rings in Lunar New Year
with Grand Celebrations at Shang Palace
Dubai, UAE – January 06, 2024 – Shangri-La Dubai, deeply rooted in its Asian heritage, is set to celebrate the auspicious Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, in honor of the Year of the Snake. With a rich blend of vibrant traditions and cultural festivities, the hotel invites guests to experience the significance of family reunions and the spirit of new beginnings. To mark this special occasion, Shangri-La Dubai will host traditional celebrations at its MICHELIN 2024 recommended restaurant, Shang Palace.
The Lunar New Year festivities at Shang Palace kick off on 28th of January till 03rd February with the grand debut of the Fortune Snake Ying Xin Chun Menu. Priced at AED 388 per person, this exclusive menu features a Chinese Rainbow Fish Salad, Chinese New Year Dim Sum Platter, soup, main courses, and dessert – a perfect culinary tribute to the occasion.
On the official Lunar New Year Day, falling on 29th of January, Shangri-La Dubai will fully embrace the festivities, including the iconic Lion Dance performed at 10:08 am, the auspicious time for the act. Adding to the festive atmosphere, a Wishing Tree is placed in the lobby, inviting guests to share their hopes and aspirations for the New Year.
As tradition dictates, the New Year’s Day witnesses everyone dressed in their finest attire, exchanging greetings with parents, and children receiving New Year’s gifts or lucky money wrapped in red paper or envelopes. Known as “yasuiqian”, this money is believed to bring luck and ensure children’s healthy growth in the coming year. Shangri-La Dubai extends this heartwarming tradition to its guests, residents, and friends from the media, creating an immersive celebration of the Lunar New Year.
To conclude the Lunar New Year festivities, a one-day-only Lantern Festival Menu will be offered on 12th February, priced at AED 288 per person.
For those seeking a truly traditional Chinese experience, Shang Palace also offers “Yusheng,” the Chinese Rainbow Raw Fish Salad, starting at AED 118 as an add-on for the set menus.
