A Feast to Remember: Kashkan by Ranveer Brar

Walking into Kashkan by Chef Ranveer Brar at Dubai Festival City Mall, I felt as though I was entering a portal to India’s rich culinary landscape. The setting—a perfect mix of sophistication and comfort—set against stunning waterfront views was already a promising start to an evening I won’t soon forget.

The menu here reads like a love letter to India’s diverse flavors, and I wasted no time diving in. My meal began with the Lamb Shorba, a hearty and aromatic soup that felt like a warm embrace. The depth of flavor in the broth was remarkable, with delicate spices dancing in every spoonful.

For a burst of fun and flavor, I couldn’t resist the Pani Puri. Each bite was an explosion of tangy, spicy, and sweet notes, reminding me why this street food classic is such a beloved dish.

Seafood lovers, take note: the Subehri Jhinga was a revelation. Perfectly cooked prawns were paired with a creamy spinach sauce that elevated this dish to something truly memorable. The delicate balance of flavors made it one of the highlights of my meal.

The tandoor section of the menu was a parade of delights. The Tandoori Lamb was beautifully tender, with a smoky, spiced crust that melted in my mouth. Similarly, the Seekh Kebab offered a bold and satisfying punch of flavor, with each bite more indulgent than the last.

When it came to the mains, the Rogan Josh was everything I hoped for and more. The slow-cooked lamb was rich and succulent, bathed in a velvety gravy with just the right amount of heat. I also couldn’t resist the Afghani Tikka Biryani, a masterpiece that combined fragrant rice with juicy, spiced chunks of chicken. It was a dish that invited seconds—and maybe thirds.

The Malai Boti and Murgh Tikka Nakhani rounded out the meal perfectly. The Malai Boti, creamy and indulgent, paired beautifully with the earthy notes of the Murgh Tikka. Each dish had its own distinct character, yet they came together harmoniously, showcasing the kitchen’s expertise.

As much as I enjoyed the food, what truly elevated the experience was the impeccable service. The staff—knowledgeable, attentive, and warm—felt like partners in my culinary adventure. Their passion for the food and stories behind each dish added an extra layer of depth to the meal.

Kashkan isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of Indian cuisine. Chef Ranveer Brar’s ability to blend tradition with modernity results in a dining experience that’s both comforting and exciting. Whether you’re revisiting familiar favorites or exploring something new, Kashkan offers a culinary journey that stays with you long after the last bite.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Would I go back? I’m already planning my next visit.
