Danish design house Georg Jensen, purveyor of intricate contemporary jewellery and precious household objects, is gearing up to mark the 4th Emirati Women’s Day on the 15th of August, 2018.
The brand joins the nation in celebrating the contribution of UAE national women in furthering the cause of social and economic prosperity for the nation. The day honours the myriad achievements of pioneers such as Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak, UAE’s Minister for Tolerance Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister for Happiness HE Ohood Al Roumi, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Shamma Al Mazrui – who at age 22 became the nation’s youngest member of cabinet in 2016.
Georg Jensen’s sinuous designs, inspired by the industrial design and minimal Scandinavian aesthetics, are no stranger to feting the accomplishments of women. The brand’s Zaha Hadid collection of precious lamellae silver jewellery, for instance, pays tribute to the renowned architect’s signature fluid shapes and visionary designs.
Other collaborations with seminal female designers include a collaboration with Sweden’s most important 20th century silversmith Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe, and Spanish architect and interior designer Patricia Urquiola. The house’s Offspring collection, which extols the human form is crafted in partnership with inimitable contemporary designer Jacqueline Rabun.
