Featuring Awa Wagyu Beef and award-winning regional delicacies, the restaurant offers a complete immersion into Japanese gourmet culture through its exquisite omakase menu. Exclusive Ingredients, Available Only at KEN in the Middle East 

The Legendary Awa Beef 

KEN uses rare Awa Wagyu Beef, of which only a few are produced annually. Raised by select farmers, this Wagyu is renowned for its rich, sweet marbling and melt-in-your-mouth texture. Served as nigiri sushi or steak, the beef delivers an unmatched harmony of flavours and tenderness, providing satisfaction like no other.

 

Some of the must-try wagyu dishes on the menu include the Awa Wagyu Hand Roll, paired with sweet Botan Shrimp; the charcoal-grilled Wagyu, featuring three carefully selected cuts; and the juicy Wagyu Cutlet Sandwich, topped with a warm and creamy garlic butter sauce.

 

Award-Winning Uni and Fresh Seafood 

Featuring Saga Red Uni, which won the “Undiscovered Gems of Japan” Grand Prix, and freshly sourced seafood directly imported from Japan, KEN offers creative dishes that transcend traditional Japanese cuisine by combining these delicacies with Awa Beef.

 

Seafood connoisseurs will appreciate the Seasonal Fish Sushi, featuring Nodoguro and Scallops, a match made in heaven; the King Crab Shabu Shabu, which offers tender, succulent crab gently cooked in a savoury broth; and the Luxurious Pot Rice, which combines premium Wagyu with the finest Japanese seafood.

 

Direct Sourcing from Local Producers 

Owner and chef Ken Kamatsuda leverages his network of Japanese producers, developed through his role as a judge for the “Undiscovered Gems of Japan” awards. This direct sourcing allows KEN to feature fresh, high-quality ingredients that are rarely available even in the Japanese market, creating an exclusive dining experience.

 

A Dining Space That Delights All Five Senses 

KEN blends traditional Japanese culture with contemporary design. The interior features calligraphy by Bisen Aoyagi, one of Japan’s most renowned calligraphers, as well as ikebana arrangements by renowned floral artist Ryota Hagiwara. Warm wooden elements and bonsai evoke the serene ambience of Kyoto’s historic temples, creating a tranquil yet extraordinary atmosphere.

About Chef Ken Kamatsuda 

With over 20 years of culinary experience, Chef Kamatsuda has been a favourite among political and business elites at a French restaurant in Azabu Juban Tokyo. Drawing on his connections to traditional Japanese arts such as calligraphy, ikebana, and kabuki, he brings a unique fusion of Japan’s culinary and cultural heritage to Dubai.
