Mega Mall Sharjah, Sharjah’s leading shopping destination, has commenced the Sharjah Stamp Exhibition 2015, organized by the Emirates Philatelic Association from 3rd to 7th of November, featuring a group of philatelists, stamp exhibitors and dealers, and wide-range collections of stamps, and valuable banknotes and items.
The exhibition was opened by Abdulaziz Al-Musallam, the Director of heritage and cultural affairs at the Sharjah Department of Culture, and was attended by Abdulla Khoory, President of the Emirates Philatelic Association, in addition to a group of local and international philatelists, journalists and visitors. The exhibition comes in line with Sharjah’s selection as the Arab Tourism Capital 2015, as the event highlights the history of postal services in the UAE and across the world.
A number of postal authorities, stamp dealers and collectors will display their selected albums of rare stamps and banknotes from different countries of the world. On the sidelines of the exhibition, an auction on rare postal stamps will be held.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohammed Sorour, Marketing Manager of Mega Mall Sharjah, said: We are truly delighted to explore our region’s culture, history at this year’s exhibition, which emphasizes the role of philately in recording and retelling our past. During the exhibition, Visitors will be able to inspect and view Arab and international postage albums, designs, marks and perforations, reflect stories of the Islamic, Arab and International civilizations since the postage stamp was first used in the region.
